Brand Management and your company

Filed in archive Quick introduction on March 5, 2010

Branding is extremely important as it sets your product and services apart from your competition and creates a lasting impression on the mind of the prospect. This marketing technique is intended to increase the perceived value to the customer and enhance brand equity.

Now the tricky question comes as to when should a company go for brand management? Besides product and company stability, one should also believe in their hindsight while going for the branding exercise.

A new company should go for branding exercise after its products have become self sufficient to compete with other brands in the market. This could take a few years to few decades to happen. One wrong step could spell disaster for the whole company and all the hard work which was put in to build it would go to dump in a matter of time.

In case of an established company it should go for re-branding when it sales starts to dip over a period of time and its market share starts getting captured by competitors and new players in the market.
