Fear of Failure or Success
Filed in archive Entrepreneurship by Greg Balanko-Dickson on September 05, 2006

I have seen this malady in my own career as well as that of my clients. The root of the fear varies from person to person but they all have one thing in common - living within a set of self imposed limitations.
The challenge of being self employed is that there is no one around to tell you that you are self-deceived. You just continue doing 'what feels right' and tell yourself that everything is going to be all right. Except for one problem, you know that you still have not solved that nagging problem and try to ignore it or worse begin to justify your decisions and actions.
Fear is a huge liability in business because it inhibits your ability to see new opportunities, fear keeps you stuck in your comfort zone.
Antidote
The antidote is to face your fear and be brutal with yourself in facing the truth about your situation. Then pick your most outstanding and pressing problem and get into action. When finished pick the next problem and get into action. Repeat until you eliminate all your fears.
Reward yourself after dealing with each problem or issue and celebrate your success.
