Politician Says: No More Taxes Already!
Filed in archive Taxes on May 26, 2007
Wow, this is something I thought I would never see a politician state publicly, one of those things like "When pigs fly!" and "Hell freezes over." Well apparently, pigs fly and hell has frozen over in Camrose Alberta.
Camrose Mayor Clarence Mastel says taxpayers are picked-on enough and don't need local politicians digging deeper into their pocketbooks.
Mastel was one of the majority of small-town mayors, reeves and municipal managers surveyed by the Canadian Federation of Independent Business who don't want more taxing authority.
"In some cases, Albertans are already paying taxes on taxes," he told Sun Media yesterday. "I'm not in favour of any more taxation." Via Enough Taxes Already
Thank God a politician who gets it. I live in Edmonton and Mayo Mandel has said that taxes are crushing Alberta's taxpayers.
"We have a huge deficit to fill. We have people constantly wanting and needing things. Right now we're crushing the residential taxpayer and the commercial taxpayer," Mandel previously told Sun Media. Via Enough Taxes Already
Now we just have to figure out how to make sure they follow through on this "Enough taxes already" sentiment.
