What is your company policy regarding blogging?
As blogging becomes more ubiquitous it follows that employees with a beef and a bouquet might speak publicly about their work experience. The globe and maillinks told a story about a lawsuit between a law firm and a former employee. U of T professor has this suggestion:
"If you a have a positive corporate culture and it is a good place for employees to work, then there will be positive things about your firm online," said Andrea Wojnicki, assistant professor of marketing at the Rotman School of Management at the University of Toronto. On the other hand, "marketers and managers that have something to hide -- or that ignore cries for improvement -- may see the demise of their brand or their firm." Maintaining a positive environment and realizing that your business exists within a community which comes with responsibilities and obligations to engage in a dialogue will go a long way to to protecting your reputation and brand.
