You Can Be an Ontario Cool Shop

Cool Shops has been operating in Toronto since 2000 and this year is expanding to 10 cities. Cool Shops is a market transformation program targeting street-facing retailers in neighborhoods across Ontario. The purpose of the program is to identify and implement in-store energy management measures that encourage the small-business commercial sector to save on utility costs and reduce energy consumption.
Small businesses that participate in the program will also be included in the Clean Air Foundation's Cool Shops marketing program, receiving an official Cool Shops window/door decal and acknowledgement and recognition in local newspaper and magazine features.
Program participants get a free energy audit and discounts on energy efficient products.
For more information on the Clean Air Foundation and Cool Shops, visit: www.cleanairfoundation.org or www.coolshops.ca.

Wow! a free energy audit for our business (something I had never thought of). Yes I had thought about conserving energy with energy efficient bulbs etc, maybe there is more? Are there other areas of assessments that I should be looking at for my business? I had heard about recycling as a component to green my business, taking it to the next level.

I would also recommend looking at your roof. There is a product that is a white membrane that reflects heat and the sun energy away from your roof which can substantially reduce your electrical costs running air conditioning. You can learn more about the product from Durolast: http://www.duro-last.com/
